What you do is get a good rump roast, not too much fat, and rub it with whatever spices you want, and pour a can of onion soup on it or water or leave it in its own juices, and cook it all night, on low, I think. Next morning, chop up and add whatever root vegetables you want, and let that cook for a while, and then eat it with salt and pepper. I add a little tabasco.

Oh, yeah, for black-eyed peas you want to soak the peas, and give yourself eight or ten hours for the cooking, and have a hamhock or some bacon in there with the peas.
