Good day sunshine.
Rachel looks very smart and elegant in Sabine’s photo. I’m so proud of her.
Speaking of proud, way to do it, Meredith!
Have suspended my own graduation until mid-October. Not only does that allow me to relax a bit after this packed-full 4-year experience, but I get to see everybody again.
Movin to Baton Rouge around July 15. You know, I want to make sure I get there when it’s not too cold.
I did make something new the other day–a tart. Not with my Kitchen Aid, but with a pastry blender and elbow grease. It was a spinach-mushroom tart with some ricotta and parmesan in the filling. It wasn’t bad, but a little bland. Last night we put sharp cheddar on the leftovers and it was much better. Thanks Tootie.

I’m teaching Essay Writing in summer school soon, and I’ve never taught it before. Anyone who’s taken it before, please tell me what was good and bad about it for you. This is my last class to teach here ever, and I don’t want it to suck ass.

I’m feeling things about smoking today. I read the Sedaris article Chad S. posted, and then I watched that crazy “She’s Gone” video Fiona posted, where Daryl Hall chooses to smoke instead of lip-sync his words. Weird.
When I was reading the Sedaris, I thought, man, I should be writing about smoking. It’s something I know a lot about. But people want to hear about people quitting smoking, not just people musing about it.
My favorite line from the Sedaris: “Camels were for procrastinators, people who wrote bad poetry, and people who put off writing bad poetry.” Jesus, he’s right.
On an unrelated topic, I saw Professor Tango’s reference to Lisa Frank today. Oh, oh, oh. I was very very into Lisa Frank…many albums full, though Mrs. Grossman’s were actually my favorite. I used to buy Lisa Franks at a store in Woodland Hills Mall where I also bought pins with Michael Jackson’s photos on them. This was Thriller time.
