Good news.  Today, the 9th Circuit Court overturned the conviction of a humanitarian volunteer who was arrested for leaving water along migrant trails in the Buenos Aires Wildlife Refuge south of here.  

 

Incidental fact:  Forty-eight hours prior to getting busted, the same volunteer discovered the remains of a 14-year-old Salvadoran girl who had wandered by herself for almost two weeks before succumbing to dehydration.  

 

Another incidental fact: Of the three judges reviewing the appeal, the single dissenting vote was cast by one Judge Jay Bybee, who you may remember happened to be the signer of the infamous legal memos that authorized waterboarding and other forms of torture for Bush, Jr.     

 

So far, over 200 remains found this year on the AZ border, actual mortality estimated at 5 to 10 times that.   One more real hot month to go.
