Began training Jiu-jitsu under Ralph Gracie in 2000. Moved to L.A. in 2001. Trained under John and Jean Jacques Machado while residing in Los Angeles. Worked as a barista and game-tester for THQ. The first date I ever went on in L.A. died of a heroin overdose a week later. Made an appearance on Court TV’s “The System” as a disgruntled convenience store clerk. Was the victim of a mugging/assault that resulted in getting stabbed in the face four times by two assialants. 3 weeks after the incident and 14 stitches later, I medaled 4th in my division at the 2002 Grapplers Quest. Moved to Aspen, CO in 2003 to spend time with my Father who had suffered a severe stroke. Worked in a bookstore and taught Jiu-jitsu to a handful of beginners at the local rec-center. Drove four hours each way to train under Amal Easton in Boulder, CO. I was a bronze medalist in the 2003 Jiu-jitsu Pan Ams. In 2004 I moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to train at the most prestigious Jiu-jitsu academy in the world, Gracie Barra. Trained under Marcio Fietosa, Carlos “Escorrega” Lemos and “Lagarto.” When I wasn’t training on the mats, I was going to the beach and falling in love every 5 feet or so.
Tourist visa expired half a year, so I returned to the states and settled in Denver.
I am currently an assistant coach at Easton Brazilian jiu-jitsu’s Denver academy. I am also a contributing writer to onthemat.com, which is a website covering the Jiu-jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts scene around the world. I also DJ on the side, here and there. When I’m not training, I’m either riding my bicycle, my Vespa or my motorcycles. I can also cut a mean stencil and have been known to get carried away with a can of spray-paint.
